What This Role Is
We work with U.S. home services companies. The businesses that show up when someone searches "plumber near me" or "AC repair in Phoenix." Local, competitive, and completely dependent on organic search.
We are looking for an SEO Strategist who can think beyond individual tasks and connect the dots between content, technical health, and what the client actually needs to see in a report. You will work across multiple accounts, build content plans that match real U.S. search behavior, flag technical issues before they hurt rankings, and communicate results clearly to account managers and clients.
This is not an execution-only role. We need someone who understands why a strategy works, not just how to follow one.
If you have spent two to four years doing real SEO work for U.S. audiences and you are ready to own the strategy behind the results, keep reading.
Responsibilities
Content Strategy & Editorial Planning
- Build monthly content plans based on keyword research, search intent, and ranking gaps
- Write detailed briefs for writers that cover target keyword, page goal, heading structure, word count, and internal linking instructions
- Review published content and flag anything that does not meet U.S. English standards or SEO requirements
- Identify which existing pages need to be updated, consolidated, or retired
- Coordinate with the SEO Specialist to make sure content and on-page work move together
Technical SEO Oversight
- Run regular site audits using Screaming Frog, Ahrefs, or SEMrush
- Identify and document technical issues: crawl errors, indexing problems, page speed concerns, duplicate content, and broken internal links
- Write clear recommendations for developers or the client's web team using plain language
- Monitor Core Web Vitals and flag regressions
- You do not need to write code, but you need to understand what you are looking at
Client Communication & Reporting
- Build monthly SEO reports that tell a story, not just show numbers
- Translate ranking movements, traffic shifts, and content performance into language a business owner can understand
- Join client calls when needed and answer questions with confidence
- Set realistic expectations and document what was done, what is next, and why
